“We learn to dwell with God by learning the practices of hospitality, listening, forgiveness, and reconciliation - the daily tasks of life with other people. Stability in Christ is always stability in community.”

- Jonathan Wilson Hartgrove

SEPTEMBER 24th, 2018 - MARCH 1ST, 2019

“For in Jesus all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him God has reconciled all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.” - Colossians 1: 19&20 (ESV)

In the wake of war and mass migration, racial tensions and ever widening economic inequality, we often feel that our sense of hope has all but dried up. There are days when we feel that the world has simply lost it’s imagination; and when we look in the mirror, we recognize that same tension within ourselves. This prevailing sense of isolation and insecurity, and a deep ache for honesty, belonging and community. Yet, as we face this ache within us, we are learning to be stubborn and choosing to take our cues from the Good News over and above the nightly news. For in our bones we believe that another world is not only possible, but that she is already here…and on a quiet day we can hear her breathing.

Do you share our groaning for deeper community?

Our passion to see communities of conflict reconciled?

Our yearning for peace and the presence of justice to take root in nations?

Our longing for The Way of Jesus to be the very fragrance of our lives?

Our desire to know the love of God?

Our hope for the world?

The A Life Together DTS is a six month intensive YWAM Discipleship Training School focused on reconciliation, community and discipleship in the Way of Jesus. Throughout DTS participants will be invited into a lifestyle of merciful-missions and equipped to walk as ambassadors of reconciliation (2nd Corinthians 5:20) in the nations and in their communities. At it’s heart, A Life Together is a gathering space where fellow recovering sinners can wander together to widen their imaginations of what is actually possible in this world.

We believe, whole heartedly, in a movement of loving God, one another, and the world well. We believe in learning to live justly, honestly and more beautifully so that the Kingdom of Jesus can reach into and reconcile the most divisive, most violent and most segregated spaces in our lives and the communities around us.

The first three months of DTS will take place at YWAM, Muizenberg on the Souther Peninsula of Cape Town, South Africa. Sharing life together in community, staff and students alike will submerge themselves into an intentional season of shared learning via lectures, regular rhythms of prayer and worship, spiritual direction, manual labor and active service to the community around us. With the Mother City as our backdrop we will engage in a live/learn pursuit of a life shaped by the mercy of God. Our prayer is that this lecture phase will birth a love for Jesus, a lifestyle of active reconciliation and a vision for life-long learning, in all who participate.

Lecture topics include: The Father/Mother Heart of God, Worldview, Reconciliation & Peacemaking, Missions, The Kingdom of God & more.

Continuing in a posture of learning and a vision of "the Beloved Community", our final three months of DTS will consist of splitting into smaller focused outreach teams and heading for the Middle East. Carrying the two handed gospel which seeks to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of people, we will continue our communal discipleship journey while serving communities of conflict throughout a region of the world which carries wounds and fractures and yet incredible resilience in the face of violence. The hope for these outreaches is to be students of the people, places and the stories we come into contact with while discovering and sharing the heart of Jesus and supporting various ministries and Kingdom movements along the way.

Join us for A Life Together DTS if you desire to share your life for six months and have a passion for discovering Christ within yourself, within a community of active discipleship, and within a world aching for hope.
